Weaving Pandanus Mat Workshop
Weaving Pandanus Mat Workshop
Join us in our Pandanus Mat Weaving Workshop where you are taught special techniques handed down by our ancestors over thousands of years. Over the course, we'll share with you techniques for weaving Pandanus fibre. Everything is hands-on. Plus, you get to take your piece of crafty art home.
About your teacher - Rachel Dikul Baker
Rachel is a Yolngu woman from north-eastern Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. She is a weaving expert and has been guided by Lilly Roy, an Elder and Traditional Owner of Milingimbi Community, as well as Elders of Yirrkala, Numbulwar, Gapuwiyak, Ramingining and Maparu Homelands.
In this workshop, you will be using culturally, ethically and sustainably utilising 100% natural bush dyes prepared by Rachel herself.
